Know your skin care products
We all love buying skincare products but do you really understand your product? I guess not! Unless you have a background in Latin or a degree in Chemistry you cannot understand what your skincare has. Many of us instead of researching on ingredients go on the popular vote while selecting products and opt for products with a cult following. Here is our attempt to clear few terms for you, so next time you would know your product better and make wiser choices. With some of this information, you can surely be a more confident consumer. Hypoallergenic – If your skincare product or your makeup claims to be “hypoallergenic” then know that the product is claiming fewer allergic reactions by the use of the product. That does not mean it is completely allergic-free, it means fewer allergies. It is almost impossible to guarantee that skin care or a cosmetic product will never cause an allergic reaction. Cruelty-free – A product implying “cruelty-free” means neither the product nor its ingredients have been tested on animals. Simply, no animals were harmed in the making of this product. Many companies put “cruelty-free” but still use raw materials (not their final product) that have been tested on animals. Vegan – It is one step ahead from Cruelty-free, Vegan skincare range simply means a product that has not used any ingredient derived from animals, including animal by-product. While a cruelty-free product can have milk and honey or other ingredients derived from animals but has not been tested on them. Non-Comedogenic – Products clogging pores and thus causing some serious skin damage is not new, so a product that claims to be non-comedogenic means that skincare or the makeup product contains ingredients that won’t block or clog pores. These products are usually recommended to people battling acne or who have oily skin. pH (Potential Hydrogen) balanced – The pH of your favorite cleanser, toner, and moisturizer is going to affect your skin believe it or not. Our skin has an acidic mantle that protects our skin from external influences like bacteria, pollution, allergens while maintaining the moisture of our skin. To balance the natural acidic nature of skin your product's pH must be around 4.5-5.5. Skin-care products with a high pH level (also known as alkaline) pose the biggest threat to your skin's pH and acid mantle. Ethically Sourced – Ethically sourced means two things. First, the products used have been selected with utmost care and using legal ethical ways. Second, all the living and non-living mediums used to source the products were treated fairly. CHOOSE WISELY… STAY HEALTHY & BEAUTIFUL 😊
